The Bell & Forge

Fremlins have taken over as brewers and the landlord in 1938 was George Hurley. The store at the side of the Pub has been demolished and a lean-to added. This was home to The Shepherdswell Fire Brigade's hand cart, prior to the building of a new fire station in 1937. R. E. Miles, the blacksmith in 1938, is seen standing outside the open door of The Forge. To his left is the timetable for the East Kent Road Car Company's service to Dover. The Forge acted as a local agent. At the side of the building are pitchforks for either sale or repair.
