Walk of Remembrance

Blue Plaques to Commemorate Residents Who Served in The Great War

One hundred years ago, the inhabitants of Shepherdswell took part in ‘peace celebrations’ to mark the end of the Great War.

This summer we are commemorating all residents of the village who served in that conflict by installing Blue Plaques near where they once lived. The plaques can be viewed as a ‘walk of remembrance’, before they are transferred to the Village Hall and displayed on a permanent ‘wall of remembrance’.

On 6th May, this commemoration will be launched with an event on the Village Green. There will be brief talks, a display and information about how to take part in the walk.

All are welcome. Bank Holiday Monday, 6th May, 2pm.

This project has received kind support from Kent County Council, Dover District Council, Shepherdswell & Coldred Parish Council and Shepherdswell Village Green Association.
