Albert Charles Fox

Albert Charles Fox  1886 – 1917

Albert was born in the 1st quarter of 1886, in the Dover district. His parents were William Charles and Sarah Jane (née Sneller). He was the third of their three children, all boys. 

The 1891 Census showed that the family were living on Church Hill. 

His father was employed as a ‘hay trusser’, which was a seasonal job. It is not known if he worked in any other employment. By 1901, aged 15, Albert was working as an agricultural labourer and was living as a boarder at Coldred Farm, Coldred, with the Bean family. 

In 1911, he was employed as a ‘steersman on a traction engine’ and was living back at home with his widowed mother, in Moon Hill.

Records for Albert’s War experience have not been found to date, however it is known that he was a sapper in the 72nd Field Company of the Royal Engineers and had the service no. 154173. 

He died in hospital in Secundirabad 0n 29th April 1917, aged 31. He is buried in the Bolarum Cavalry Barracks Cemetery in India.
