I`m researching the family of my Gr grandmother Elizabeth Kitham. A cousin of hers William Smith Belsey inherited in 1922 the disused pub The Leather Bottle from his father Franklin Belsey. I don`t think it was ever used again as a pub, so maybe he sold it? I`ve just seen a photo of the Old Bakery in Shepherdswell and I`m sure it is the same building, am I right? I would appreciate any information you have about this. Thanks for your time in reading my mail.

  Hi Janet,
  I can tell you that the Old Bakery was, in fact, the old bakery. What was the Leather Bottle pub is literally right behind it.
  If you look on Google satellite view, The Old Bakery is on Mill Lane. The house directly behind it, on what Google calls N. Downs Way (it is actually Moon Hill) used to be the Leather Bottle pub in question.
  I don’t know enough about past residents to give you any info on the Belsey’s but I will share your request with the other members and see what comes up.
