William Banks 1844 – 1967
William was born on 26th August 1884 in Shepherdswell, to parents Edward Matthew and Mary Ann Elizabeth (née Beer). Like his brother Arthur, he remained living with the family at Halfway Street, employed as a farm labourer on both the 1901 and 1911 Censuses.
To date, his War records have not been found with any certainty as there has been no identifying information to differentiate him from other men with the same name.
In 1922, William married Charlotte Matilda Maxted (née Rigden), who was the widow of Charles Maxted. They had at least one child, William, born in 1927.
The 1939 Register gave their address as 2 Breach Cottage, Barham.
His death was registered in the 3rd quarter of 1967 in the Canterbury District, at the age of 82.
